experiment #1 reprise

you start from a band/artist youlikealot myspace and then go on from friends to friends, skipping those you already know. at least 10 steps, in my case 11 cause i dont like numbers ending with 0.

here’s my trip:

yeah yeah yeahs dodging sonic youth, cat power and tv on the radio, very tempted by Mary Halvorson & Jessica Pavone, but finally go for

No No Nos who’ve got something in common with my starting point, guess what? and actually turn out to be a yeah yeah yeahs cover band: you know those weird guys who go touring singing and acting like their favourite band, like kind of pretending to be them? well, anyway they’re not bad, I float a little on “date with the night” (one of my favs) and let my finger take the ultimate hard decision: mrs potato head or deerhoof?

deerhoof and they’re pretty cool, 3 musicians, one japanese women guitarist/singer, which actually is not so unusual nowdays [quite like a woman bass player few years ago, no?] almost a must if you rock, and i fell immediatly in love with “basket ball get your groove back”, add it on my January sonicplaylist, kiss off XIU XIU, whose music is good, but I really hated their live performance here in Rome last year, pass by Why? hesitating between experimental dental school and oneone.

oneone and i meet satomi and saya, two two lovely girls girls, who sing me “Tobe tobe” [yeah i know], quite a nice riff, make me think of “my little airport”, but now I had enough jap jap stuff, pass by “taxi taxi” [omgness] and try to find something different different… jis i’m out…in

Woman year’s my space, who i thought was a she but it’s a he, i like the song called “N” [ yeah, added], it reminds me of Beck Hansen, take a quick glance through his friends, then jump into

Scapulamanci, that sounds like a sicilian word, but has nothing to do with italy i guess, scapulamanci is a guy from california, plays kind of caothic experimental, ireallydontknowhowtosayit music, which actually i dont like at all, so i surf into something else, but ouch

Pregnant’s music it’s not my kind, and while i’m thinking that i’m stucked in a lazy friends circle, i’m attracted by the name, and frankly the pic of a lovely girl named

liz liles she is not a singer, she is not in a band, or she is not brave enough to upload her stuff on the space, anyway my sharp eye sniffs out the

stereo total why do they remind something? maybe cause of the name [I'm actually thinking of the sterolab] or do I already know them? Pixie Vision Production leads to lovely artworks, promise to come back when i’m more into an experimental artistic mood and take the last step into tashina, who is a pretty young artist.take a look at her paintings and i do believe they interesting: specially the one called “Shift” i  write her to tell her how much i like what she does. we’ll keep in touch. here we go: 11 clicks, starting from the yeah yeah yeahs and at the end of the trip i’ve got a new friend.
